Instructions for Your Pet’s Surgery
Medical/Emergency Services
Here at Highland Pet Hospital, we offer a wide range of medical services for the health care of our patients, including examinations, outpatient care, inpatient hospitalization for our patients who need more intensive care, intravenous fluid therapy, allergy treatments, behavioral counseling, oral and injectible medications and therapeutic prescription diet recommendations.
For those patients with medical needs which exceed the diagnostic and/or treatment capabilities of our hospital, our partnering with theVeterinary Medical Teaching Hospital at the University of Illinois allows those special patients to have access to the necessary advanced diagnostic and treatment services required for their conditions.
Our pets are living longer and healthier lives because of advances in veterinary medicine.
Diagnostic Services
We provide diagnostic services including blood tests, urine tests, fecal examinations for parasites, bacteriology, x-rays, electrocardiograms and blood pressure measurement. In addition, we use the referral services of Antech Diagnostics and the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at the University of Illinois.
Highland Pet Hospital offers ultrasound examinations to aid in diagnosis.
Hospital Care
Unfortunately there are some instances when your pet may need to be hospitalized. We prioritize your pet’s comfort during his or her hospital stay, whether it be for IV fluid administration, oxygen supplementation, offering a special diets, or just having a cozy place to rest while waiting for diagnostic testing.
Anesthetic Procedures
Before your pet’s anesthetic procedure date, we will perform blood tests to ensure anesthetic safety. Anesthetic safety and pain management for your pet are not optional at Highland Pet Hospital, but rather an important part of every surgery we perform. Your pet will receive pain medications before and after the anesthetic procedures to minimize discomfort. No surgery is a minor surgery here. We treat each pet with the same compassion and care regardless of the surgical procedure. Each patient deserves to have great medical care!
